FLUFFY FRENCH BULLDOG
Origin: France
Coat Type: Medium-length (Long Hair Gene)
Function: Companion Dog
Registry Status: Accepted for registration
Brief Overview
The Fluffy French Bulldog is a naturally occurring long-haired variation of the standard French Bulldog. The longer coat is caused by a recessive LH (long-hair) gene present within the breed’s genetic pool. To express this coat type, a dog must inherit the gene from both parents, making Fluffy French Bulldogs relatively rare.
Although often described as “long-haired,” the coat is more accurately classified as medium-length. The hair is typically longer and softer around the ears, neck, chest, and shoulders, while remaining practical and not excessive.
General Appearance
Fluffy French Bulldogs closely resemble standard French Bulldogs in structure, body proportions, and expression. They maintain a compact, muscular build with a balanced and sturdy appearance, combined with the unique soft coat texture.
Behaviour / Temperament
Fluffy French Bulldogs are affectionate, friendly, and adaptable. They are generally calm, rarely excessive barkers, and known for their strong bond with their owners. When properly socialized, they coexist well with other dogs and household pets.
Coat & Colours
The coat is medium-length and soft in texture, with feathering most noticeable around the ears, neck, chest, and shoulders. Fluffy French Bulldogs appear in the same wide range of colours as short-coated French Bulldogs, including cream, brindle, pied, merle, and diluted colours such as blue and lilac.
